How Your Donations Help

Open Doors’ community closet is a resource that provides quality wardrobes for people dealing with poverty and homelessness here in our community. We serve over 1,500 individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet.

When you donate clothing that you would be proud to wear, you give your neighbors the opportunity to take pride in their appearance. Good shoes make a world of difference to someone whose primary form of transportation is walking.

Open Doors is hiring! Support specialists provide important operational support and help guests reach their goals of moving from shelter to homes of their own. Please apply or share the link below!

As Norwalk and surrounding neighborhoods takes precautions around the Coronavirus/COVID-19, everyone at Open Doors continues to be committed to the health and safety of our guests, volunteers, staff, and larger community.

Team members at Open Doors are following public health recommendations and have firm procedures in place for cleaning and disinfecting spaces, washing hands and using hand sanitizers, and practicing other protective habits. For the moment, we have paused in-person volunteering to help reduce everyone’s risk.

Open Doors is pausing all donations except for food donations until a date TBA in order to help manage risk and continue to provide crucial services to those in need. We are also closing the community closet until it is safe to reopen

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us. Thank you for your ongoing support and for helping to keep our community safe!
